I notice that musical performers are usually either very serious or very unserious. Some performers like to throw gags into their shows to make them funny while others stick to the art that is their music. Some performers just tell interesting or boring stories. Some bands are completely a gag. Should a band's music be fun, melancholic, angry, depressing, or happy?

What's your take on all this?

It should represent what they are all about and the message they are trying to potray as musical artist...

A good performance with humour and audience involvement is always a winner in my book.. I like a band that pulls you in and makes you love the music as much as they do...

I think it is a personal choice of the performer. I would prefer them to be more entertaining. (throw in a joke or two, or a story) Unless, of course we're talking about a classical orchestra or something like the Boston Pops. (but even there, there is room for entertainment.)

Depends totally on the band. Each are different
as you noticed.
