I don't think it would serve any purpose. I've read that one motivation for JKRowling killing Harry off would be to prevent another author from continuing the Harry books after she quits or has passed on. I don't see that as a valid argument.

Killing Harry wouldn't prevent that, no matter how she killed him - all any writer would have to do is devise a scenario that had him not dying after all, or being revived - gee, like Voldemort? - and the story would be off and running again. The fans would want to believe it, so it wouldn't even have to be done that convincingly.

Soap Operas have been bringing characters back from the dead for decades. Even Sir Arthur Conan Doyle used that technique with his Sherlock Holmes books, so it's not a new idea.

Killing Harry in what Rowling has proclaimed will be the final book would serve no purpose that I can see, other than to alienate and anger her readers. You don't write children's books about good triumphing over evil by killing off the good guy hero at the end. And we can't lose sight of the fact that no matter how many adults love her books, they're primarily written with children in mind. Harry survived to this point for a reason, and having evil win in the end would not be a lesson of value to teach our children.

She has admitted that two known characters will die in the last book - but she could kill ten known characters without killing off her hero.

I think the discussion on this subject is just that - discussion, and has no possible basis in reality. It ain't gonna happen.

i think its the last chapter of the book thats why they had to kill him.i mean guessing from what j.k.rowling said before that if she wouldnt kill potter, they will bring harry back to life in the future like what happen to superman.she is the creator so she has all the right to kill any character she wants as long as its really part of the book.

How do you know? Yeah she said that two characters will die, but she didn't say which ones. So, it could be Voldemort and Ron or something like that.
