Regarding plastic carrier bags, I try to avoid using them at all, I use proper shopping bags, I re-use everything that I possibly can because I have great worries concerning planet Earth. I never leave my television on stand-by,we do not own a gas guzzling vehicle and only use our small car for days out, although my husband & I both drive, he walks to work ( about 1 to 1 and a half miles ) and I go food shopping by bus, I don't waste electricity, gas or water, I refuse to have a dish washer or air conditioning, we never bath, we take a daily shower instead, I repair clothes and shoes. I re-cycle plastic bottles, tins, glass, paper, cardboard and all garden waste. People want things just for the sake of having them, or because someone else has them, they change mobile phones as often as some people have cooked meals! I don't go on long haul flights, there is no need, I have beautiful places I can visit all around me here in Scotland. Possessions do not make you happy. I am very happy and because I do all I can to help protect the planet for future generations I have an inner peace ( that's worth so much ).
Society needs to be much more aware with regard to the damage that we in the western world are doing to our wonderful planet, just think that The Sahara Desert used to be a rain forest ! The rich cats of this world have so much to answer for.

Frugality. Primarily the material. Some plastic bags are too weak to reuse. Paper sacks are good for storing vegetables in.

Do you mean like literally reuse a bag....such as a sandwhich bag? I do that for the environment.
Or do you mean why do I continue to buy a certain type of bag? I use what works best!

i generally re-use it in a kind of urgency that i go thr. it is not a big issue that if u need to re-use the bsg it's got to be a specific.it doesnt really matter. i buy plastic which is unharmfull to the enviorment,so it doesnt matter.

there are a few reasons i reuse them - they fit perfectly in my oddshaped trashcan (hot topic and the gap bags are perfect) and because if i don't have to, i'm not going to use a big trash bag that i paid for to sift the kitty litter!

sometimes i will reuse trader joe's bags for carrying things because they have the nifty handles
