why should the australian government pay to resuce and bring home lebanese who have dual citizenship? so these lebanese want it both ways. they want to live in my wonderful australia and at the same time keep their lebanese citizenship as well
Dont you think that its great that the australian government wants these dual citizenship lebanese to pay back every cent that went towards their rescue?

Absolutely, does Australia rescue folks that are on vacation? If you take your family or your self to a place that is a ticking time bomb then you have to realize somewhere in the back of your mind that bad things can happen there. One of the problems with the world today (in my opinion) :) Is that no one is responsible for their own decisions or actions. If someone makes a dumb ass move and the consequences come smacking down then they start looking around and not only asking but demanding some one save them. Don't get me wrong I think that it is TRAGIC that there are children and families in war torn areas all over the world, the ones that are caught in between and don't have the money or the resources to move to another country and set up house. However if you had the money to move to Australia and set up house and citizenship and then go and vacation in one of the biggest time bombs in the world toooooooo bad for you. Yes they should be made to pay the government back if they dont like it let them stay the hell where they are at. Much Peace

I think that if one has dual citizenship (regardless of what country, I'm not discriminating) they should pay at least half of the cost. They are half Australian and half Lebanese so to be fair we should pay half.... the other half should be paid for by the Lebanese Government.
Anyway that is just my opinion :)

I certainly don't think that anyone should expect a free ride, but I don't think that they should have to pay every bit back because the situation was not of their making. But what I think stinks is when governments provide long term housing and benefits for refugees and assylum seekers when there are nationals of that country struggling to get homes, pay bills etc. But in the short term these people deserve support in rebuilding their lives.

That is true, if they are dual nationals, the cost should be shared by both the governments. Why put burden on one government just because people have their nationality in addition to the one from where they actually belong.

You got it, mate! And I don't see any racism here. I do see commentary on nationalization, though.
