Because spiders don't offer the benefits of silky smooth legs for up to six weeks.

I agree with Amira that pain and fear are totally different. Me.....I'm scared of pain and spiders! Yet I still wax because I get ingrown hairs and that can be more painful than waxing itself. I get rid of the hairs on my legs because when I wear long pants, the fibre pulls at the hairs and hurt.

As long as I've remembered I been petrified of spiders, even dead ones. Yet snakes don't bother me.

I wouldn't say I'm a girly girl as I don't mind getting dirty helping my husband fix cars and I bite my finger nails.

An besides, if you get the waxing done properly and frequently, it doesn't hurt that much - my best friend thinks its relaxing! And she's scared of spiders. Go figure that one out!

Hmm I'm more scared of hot wax than I am spiders.
But then, a lot of women will do anything to look a certain way.. the way they want or to fit society's supposed guildlines of what is beautiful and accepted. Plus most chicks are wusses for bugs. I think because they don't know which ones are poisonous or not? Or it grosses them out? I'm a female and even I don't understand them.

Well.... the power of looking beautiful is greater than the power of spiders. Many would do anything within their means to look beautiful.

From what I know, some are no only afraid of spiders, but lizards, cockroaches, snakes, etc., even dogs or cats.

I am not afraid of spiders, or any bug for that matter, but I would not want to wax. I think that your question is stereotypical and sexist.

Women would rather die (or suffer while pouring hot wax) than have hair on their body (except head) :)

I don't wax, I shave, and as far as the fear of spiders go...well, if it has 8 legs, I want it dead!!!

This is a funny but true ?. I think the answer lies in the fact that we have been trained to expect the pain of being beautiful, but killing bugs is just YUCK.

Beauty is a women's job, so no matter what it takes, we will still try to complete that job. :D
