Is this where women need to go to find a date? It seems like there are are only men working there. Yes, I know there are SOME women but very few. What's with the gender domination?

One of the main reasons is that male brains tend to focus on spatial-visual analysis differently, perhaps in some instances more efficiently. Also male brains tend towards being more autistic than female brains, this basically means that males tend to become highly focused on organising and systematising highly specific technical details.

Presumably at NASA they have large amounts of equipment and details that need to be sorted out. Although a female touch would certainly help in some areas such as in areas needing empathy which may also include safety considerations.

Your assuming that women and men are equal.

We totally are not!

Men and Women can have 50% share of the jobs in the work place today but that does not mean that there needs to be an equal number of women at NASA to men.

Generally a job is filled by a skill set, and whatever the lads at NASA do, perhaps its just a role that is better filled by men.

I know this may cause up roar but consider this.

98% of men are air traffic controllers because they can mono task very well and are vigiliant enough to watch that screen for hours ever careful to make sure the plans get down. Women have a complete different set of skills based upon evolution and generally speaking if there where women in those seats then there would be a lot more trouble at airports. Just because we are equal in our ability to get a job does not mean that a job is equal to your abilities.

In short sometimes guys just do better jobs at somethings and girls better at others. If you don't get over it then your pushing towards the same sort of oppression that men had over women years before I was even born.......not to mention the fact that that mindset is being taken out on guys who are happy to honour your presence as a person but not as a dictator.

Enjoy life

I read somewhere that -in general- less women apply for technical and scientific jobs than men do. -In general- females aren't as interested in science and mathematics. I'm not positive of percents.. or even where I saw this.. but in my personal experience this seems to be true. Most women I know just aren't interested in these subjects.
I even saw an advertisement for a special program or something that encourages parents to explain and try to interest their little girls in science at a young age.

You kiddin'? I *love* going out with women physicists and mathematicians! Unfortunately, there are very few of those. Which may explain why there are so few female rocket scientists.
