I am a truck driver, and the national average for gas (last week) was $298.7 according to AAA.
In a related story...... Mobil announced yesterday that in it's 2nd fiscal quarter (90 days) it earned 10 billion dollars in profits.
I have to fill up my tractor 3-4 times per week. Diesel fuel is a little higher than regular unleaded gasoline, and my tractor holds 300 gallons of fuel. Last month I spent $10,684.33 on
3682.88 gals of diesel #2
That is more than I paid for my motorcycle which I bought new last year.
By comparison, in June 2001, I spent $4,077.65
on 3568.56 gals fuel, and I had a bigger truck, that got worse fuel mileage.

$2.87 per gallon for regular unleaded. I have really cut out a lot of extras like eating out as often and getting salon manicures and pedicures because of the rising prices.

I live in California where it's about $3.50 a gallon.
But until January I lived in the UK which is about £0.97 per litre.
I think that makes California about 30% cheaper but I can't really be bothered to work it out....
