You can actually file for a name change as part of the divorce and it won't cost anything extra. If you file for it separately then there is a fee.

you can get your name changed whenever you want, although excess is frowned upon. just go to your town hall and ask where you can get your name changed and what documents you will have to bring as proof of identity.
