consumerism is what marketing preys upon, consumerism is the materialistic culture surrounding people in a free market economy, the idea that purchasing something (no matter what it is) will make you happier

no consumerism is not against marketing

consumerism is why commercials for nike include star athletes making touchdowns or dunking a basketball, suggesting that if you buy the product you too will be able to jump higher, run faster, and ultimately be happier

Consumerism is a suggestion that consuming or buying things is the priority for what ever the word is associated to, as in a consumerist society is a group of people that are primarily motivated by getting stuff, marketing is a stategy to make something attractive to someone that may purchase it.

consumerism is when you buy something. you are the consumer and you normally buy something in a store. how would that be against marketing? its what companies want
