An advanced reader can retain on average upto 90% of the material read from the first time. Mediocre readers retain 70-80%, and Novice readers retain only 20-50%. This is a from a research paper on memory I wrote for Psychology.

IT DEPENDS ON THE FORMAT IN WHICH U R READING.THE MATTER U R READING. THE ENVIRONMENT. HOE ALERT UR MIND IS ETC . . . SO MANY FACTORS AFFECT HOW MUCH U CAN RECAL FROM MEMORY.
BUT THE FACT IS -things that interest u , pictorial representation, flow charts, figure, diagram that too simple ones human brain remembers well.
when u have full attention in wht u r reading & in a good ambient environment the % of rememberance increases.
but the important thing is A BRAIN THAT HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY PUT TO WORK POSITIVELY WIL REMEMBER BETTER.

I'm gonna guess 65%. I think it would really depend on the person. I have a pretty good memory and can remember about 75% of what I read on any given day. Others may only retain 20%.
