I have (or had) a flock of pet laying hens and there are some raccoons that keep coming and eating them. I need to get rid of the raccoons if I want to prevent my last remaining hens from becoming a bloody feast all over the yard but my neighbor is a PETA freak ans says that she'll "report me and make me wish I hadn't" if I do anything about the raccoons. It's not like I want to shoot them or anything, I just want to catch them in a live trap and let them go in the forest far away from my pet laying flock. She thinks that trapping and relocating the raccons is cruel and that anyone who care's about animals wouldn't think of doing that. I thought PETA people were supposed to care about animal lives. Doesn't she care about the hens?

Who cares about her? You actually can call PETA and tell your problem. Maybe they will come to help you do that. I'd like to see her face if that happens.

Call the Game Warden in your area, they'll sit the traps and relocate the raccoons for you, if they don't offer this assistance, Trap them privately and relocate them without the PETA lady knowing, after all who tells their neighbors everything.

You might build a coon proof chicken yard like I did with fence across the top and sides buried 6 inches deep. There are also states that allow "dispatching" of nuisance pests on farms. To do this put a pile of corn in the back yard, shine the flashlight at night out there and start blasting yellow eyes. If you are doing legal activities she doesn't have a leg to stand on. Get a restraining order and report her if she violates it......

try to convince the PETA maniac that the raccoons have been already misplaced because of which they are hindering the human social life and by taking them to the forest you are actually helping them by giving them their original habitat.
and if then too she's not agreed, firstly relocate that maniac in the forest following the relocation of the raccoons.

Trap a bunch of Skunks and make them nest in front of her yard.

If she's true to her word, then shell eventually leave.

Either way you'll have a better neighbor for it!

Cheers!

first off, its not creul, its helping the animal not get into trouble anymore and get him to a safer place.
second, i would more ur hens to a different place and see if that throws the raccon off.
third, dont listen to ur neighboor, and call the aspca, they will get the raccon to safty without harming it.
fourth, raccons eat hens???

Just ignore her, she sounds like a trendy environmentalist, one which makes me sick. I believe in animal rights and as long as your humane in moving it, you have my full support. Tell her to go screw herself and not drink milk, seeing as Cows are kept artificially preganant to keep the production up. Thatll mess with her
