My 5 month old is already cutting teeth and a lot of people, including my pediatrician, have suggested Humphrey's. I followed the directions but I just don't see how it's supposed to work. It says you're supposed to dissolve 3 pellets in 1/2 tsp of water, well, it took forever to disolve and then it was hard to get to what had settled at the bottom (yes, even in only HALF tsp of water!). Then I went ahead and tried it myself and it just tasted like a really mild mint and didn't numb my gums or tongue at all.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or should I just use baby orajel?

I attempted the Humphrey's as well and had the same results as you. I found the baby orajel (overnight relief) to be the best. Just dont give it to them prior to eating, as babies are so full of drool when they're teething, it will carry some of the orajel down their throat and you dont want to feed a baby with a numb throat! Not good. So numb them after eating or before bed.

Good Luck!

Try Hyland's teething tablets . They dissolve in the babies mouth and really do work ! You can buy them at most drug stores . I have heard from several health professionals NOT to use oragel because it inflames their gums even more . Think about what you did .....you put a babies dose of medication in your mouth & expected to feel some kind of result ...you weigh atleast 10 times what a 5 month old would weigh ! Try putting 30 baby doses in your mouth & see what you feel ! (don't really do this ) . Good luck to you .My daughter is 16 months and still teething !

I used tylenol, motrin, and Hylands teething tablets when my children were teething. You take the tablet, and you put it in the babies mouth. It dissolves on it's own. You can used the the teething tablets every 4-6 hours.
