Well it can also be the other way around, the person with you for the rest of your life can become your best friend.

I don't. I think definitely in some cases persons fall in love with their best friend and end up getting married to them and that's fine. But I don't think that the person you choose to get married to has to be your best friend. It's is entirely possible to have a husband (who isn't your best friend) and a best friend (who isn't your husband) at the same time. In some cases I think it allows for a healthy relationship between two married people. In a marriage it isn't always a bed of roses and in times like that especially, it's important to have someone there outside of the marriage to be there for you, to analyse the situation objectively and to help you deal with it. The best friend is not at all obsolete in a marriage.

I do.
Otherwise, a lifetime is a very long time to spend with someone who you were once romantically linked, but is now connected merely by responsibility.

The answer to this question is really very simple.Would you want to live with someone thats your enemy? If they are not your friend they are a stranger. Would you want to live that way?

i do believe that your partner should be your best friend at the same time. Someone you can talk to openly and be yourself in his/her company

I think they certainly should be one of your best friends, but it's still important to have friends other than your spouse.
