Well, it depends really on where you live.
Here in the Southwest, Honey, Luv, Babe and so forth are used quite often, on women who you don't even know, or just met for the first time, They usually don't mean too offend by it, its a way of life.. I think you northerners call it Southern Hospitality.
But by all means if it offends you, just mention it in a casual way, and he should stop. Don't be afraid to ask, We men aren't mind readers, you know!

If he is your friend then ask him and if it bothered you ask him not to do it again. Some people call others honey and sweetie all the time. And maybe he is really interested in you. That could be really cool too.

Depends on how close their friendship is.
I have a male friend who I have been friends with for several years, we call each other "honey" or "sweety" all the time...we mean nothing other than "you are a special person in my life" by it.
We're more like brother and sister..we've never had any kind of phyisical relationship. I have mine and he has his partners....of that sort.

I know a guy who's a real despo but ppl dont realize that coz he's so 2-faced in public.. soon as he talks to a female more than a week.. whether he's interested or not.. he calls hr names like 'baby' and 'honey'.. and the poor females think he's serious.. its terribly misleading.
So.. to anser your q.. yes, it maybe that he likes you.. but nothings for certain in this world.
I also know people who would never call a 'just friend' names like that... I think they're better that way...

Yes, it's just a term like, sweetie or pop-corn ball. Some people say it out of habit honey.

It's flirtatious, but it doesn't necessarily mean that he wants to go out with you. I flirt with my lady friends all the time, and have called them 'honey' on more than one occasion.

If he has genuine feelings for you, why not? A friend can feel close to a female friend and use a term of endearment without there being an ulterior motive.
