If you have a girlfriend, would you allow one of your guy friends to hang out with her knowing nothing is going to happen since their both just friends?

I would not let my best friend "hang out" with my girlfriend, unless he was a castrated monk with a vow of silence for life.

It is not healthy to allow your to be in hand in hand with another friend , in a group it is ok , not alone .
