Hi there,
Well, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Here are a few of them:
Hotmail: Downloadable to Outlook Express or MS Outlook even though it is not POP3. Interface is pretty good. Attachment limit is 10MB, so for sending large files, this is a definite advantage. But the storage limit is 250MB compared to 1GB for Yahoo and over 2GB for GMail. Excellent interoperability betwen MSN messenger and Hotmail.
Yahoo: Probably the most popular email service in the world. Interface is decent. The flip side is that it's purely web based unless you're ready to pay for POP3 access. Attachment limit is 5MB. Decent storage limit of 1GB.
Gmail: Good one, but the interface is a little old fashioned. It is still not open to opening an account unless you have an invitation. The major plus that I've seen with Gmail is that it keeps mail in threads (if you reply to a message, next time it is shown together with the source email), making it easy to identify multiple emails in a thread. The attachment limit is 5MB. The flip side is that when you attach a file, it does not show you the progess and you're staring at the page waiting for it to refresh.
All in all, look at what you need. Storage / Attachment limit / Ease of Searching / etc. Others would be pretty much comparable to one of these three.

Not sure if you are looking only for free email services.
If you are looking for free email services then I will recommend you Gmail.
If you are interested in paid one then I will recommend you to buy a domain name and email services at SassyDomains.com

Yahoo
I've used Hotmail longer but have recently been getting TONS of junk mail in my Inbox even w/ my junk filter on. It's lame. Yahoo is better, I am always able to send more photos on here too.

Personally I prefer Hotmail. Hotmail needs some work on the junk mail handling. BUT it's uncluttered compared to Yahoo which is a jumbled mess. (In My Opinion)
Hotmail also links to my MSN pages, which are also uncluttered compared with Yahoo.
Yahoo just looks so disorganized to me, but I still use it.
Also Yahoo Messenger is a memory hog compaired to
MSN Messenger.
