My daughter loved high school and enjoyed her experience , but still couldn't wait to graduate and go on to college . Peer pressure after the high school change a lot , she was less influenced by others , I feel that once they graduate they come into their own and are less likely to be drawn into things as easily by friends . They seem to find their niche or learn that all that need to run with the crowd was just a high school thing . college is completely different there are no clicks or in crowds there everyone just does their own thing . The young men and women who were big fish in a small pond in high school are the ones that have a harder time in college , they suddenly find that they are no longer the big fish , but a small fish in a very large pond . I hope I have shed some light on your question .

I think most teenagers know that they need to finish high school now a days because you really cannot find a living wage job without college and to get into college you have to finish high school. At many colleges people are more open-mined also. So your gay, bi, lesbian daughter or son could have a better time at a gay-friendly college. Peer pressure is a life long thing, you either know how to deal with it and think for yourself or you don't.

depending on the high school, it can be as much fun as a continuous root canal. reaction wise, well that is total dependent on the person. i personally think that peer pressure continues after 18 but only until the realize that the had a mind of their own and can speak for themselves.

as a parent of 4, 2 boys, 2 girls........3 are of age and the only difference I saw in finishing HS was their personalities...the oldest (boy) took a different route, never graduated but is doing well at the age of 25...my 21 yr old wanted out of school so badly that he graduated 1 yr early and the 19yr old (girl) graduated and is now in college..........I'm still waiting to see what will happen to my 9yr old girl.
As for peer pressure, not much seemed to affect my kids, they are all self thinking people.........they had a few of the typical problems in school, my daughter had it the worst because of my coming out at a bad time for her, but she not only rose above it, but is a staunch supporter of gays & lesbians...(actually, all the kids are)....and one son is gay himself and came out at the age of 17.

Peer pressure and mocking happens to everyone in high school- if they're not making fun of your parents' sexual orientation, they're making fun of your weight, or your clothes, or your friends. As long as teenagers have supportive, loving parents, they'll make it through okay.
