this is what i know...you should have a talent in drawing and practice all the time...watch an anime series and just observe the character's face...the face is very important and i think the most important parts are the eyes...it is difficult to draw the perfect anime eyes and you need a lot of practice to do this...it will be easier if you focus on one anime character to practice drawing...light strokes will help...the pencil is not that important but the paper is...but it really depends on your taste...by the way if you have talent then you wont find drawing animes difficult but if not then you should practice...even those people who are good at drawing practce too and trust me if you dont practice then your talent slowly fades away...and lastly dont be sad if what you drew does not look like the anime character you copied just keep on practicing until you are satisfied of what you did...

The best way to draw is to copy one of your favourite mangaka's art. Eventually you will have your own style and I suppose copying art is easier than drawing it freehand. This is probably how every mangaka started out; setting examples from other artworks.

i started off by using a how to draw manga comic book. however, the more in depth they got, the worse my drawings got... it was a good foundation with the first book, but from there out it was a waste! after that i just drew the characters myself or my husband liked. but i think the foundation from that first one helped.

1.start tracing so that you'd get used to the strokes
2. try in free hand with a guide beside you
3. remove the guide and see how well you do
4. PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE!
thats how I learned!
