My cornsnake has made a habit of pooping in her water dish recently and not only is it gross and annoying, but I'm concerned that she's trying to tell me something that I'm just not getting. I change her water everyday, and feed her once or twice a week (she's only about a year old). She normally doesn't even want to poop in her tank and waits until someone picks her up or I take her out to poop. Is she normal or is she just a jerk? Any advice would be very greatly appreciated!

It is very common for snakes to poop in their water. Something about the water is calming to them and can cause them to poop. In fact when a snake is not able to go you are supposed to soak them in a tubof water, it helps them to finally go.

Just make sure you check your snake daily and change the water as needed. There isn't anything wrong.

Is it hot where you are? Hotter than usual? She may be too hot to get out of the water to do her business. If the poop looks normal, and she looks healthy otherwise, don't worry about it. Consider changing her habitat so that all the lights and heaters are on one side. That leaves a cooler part where she can go if she gets too hot.
The digestion and overall health of reptiles relys on proper temperatures, if you have changed anything, check to make sure the temps are correct. Also, the equipment may have broken or failed in some way, check the whole set up to make sure everything is functioning correctly.

This is actually pretty normal. There is nothing you can do to stop it. A lot of snakes prefer to defecate in their water dish. It shouldn't really be a problem since you said you're changing the water every day. Just make sure you clean it well before you put it back in.

Start by feeding her only once a week. Maybe she's constipated and needs the water to help her go. You put a constipated snake or one that is going into hibernation in warm water to get the gut cleaned out.
I only feed my snake, albeit a much larger Rainbow Boa, only 2x per month. If your snake is eating twice a week, try feeding her a little bit larger food.

I don't think so, like you can't really train a snake to do anything. Even when you tame a snake, you're really just getting it use to being handled, you can't make a snake roll over or sit. The only thing I can think of that might work is putting it up higher so he has to climb up to drink. Like hang it up so it's not ground level. But then again, they aren't geniuses, so he might dehydrate himself.

This is very common for all reptiles & you probably will not be able to stop it.

I know some people that use this reaction as a sort of potty training their reptiles. In order to cut down on the cleaning of their pet reptiles cage, they soak their pet in warm water to encourage defeaction. The poop and the water goes down the drain instead of the poop going into the pet's cage.

Ok all these peoples answers are Wrong!! I have a snake and they deficate in their water because it is soothing to them. They bathe in the water and it feels good so they release pee/ poo. You cannot prevent it and my best advice is change the water everyday/ every other day. I dont care if that lady above me is a vet tech she clearly hasnt owned a snake.
