I remember my childhood really well, my husband doesn't remember much of his at all. Most people I know don't remember a lot and I wonder what makes for lots of memories or few?

trauma blocks memory and joy allows memories to come through.
i did some 'life-line' work to rebuild some of my early, traumatic memories. enough to have a better picture and understanding of my neurotic stuff and a way better understanding of what all went into making me as i am/was. the hatred i had for my parents finally surfaced after years of fear (my dad) and idolization (my mom). it's nice to have memories back so understanding can happen and the lies and misunderstanding vanishes. one thing. when you remember, no one can scam you anymore about what happened in your life.

We tend to remember early learning experiences better if they have and retain their unique setting.

Memories at 18 months are more common than most people expect.

I remember a lot.
Trauma is probably why many don't remember. A protective device.
