Check ur CPU fan or SMPS fan replace it if needed.
check with another HDD if possible.
if with another HDD there is no noise. then ur HDD needs doctor.

Yep, sounds like the hard drive. The CPU doesn't make noise.

A failing hard drive will start to click more as the days and weeks go by. But don't wait too long to do something about it. It can fail at anytime. Definitely make sure you make a complete image of our hard drive onto DVD (if you have a burner). Some good apps that can help you are Acronis TrueImage or Norton's Ghost.

CPU fan may be loose, try checking to make sure it's secure.

if no tone is heard frm the cpu then it maybe that ur harddisk's kaput..
