The SF Zoo is much smaller than the SDZ, but just as nice. It is often fogged in as it's near the beach, so it can be cold (after 11am in Sept/Oct is probably the perfect time of year to go. The food choices are pretty lame- just your standard amusement park fare, ie pizza, burgers, corndogs and lots of other junky junk food, and no Starbucks (I don't think there is any gourmet coffee there, at all). I believe that you can pack in your own food/coffee. It has had some remodeling done since I was there last, so it may be even better now. If you have kids, check out the carousel- it is beautiful (very old and traditional).

Have fun!!

The SF Zoo is very nice, but does not compare to size of San Diego Zoo. I don't remember a Starbucks, but some eating places, and just outside the zoo are coffee shops/restaurants.

Never been to the San Diego Zoo, but I've been to the SF Zoo a lot and it's pretty small. If it was any bigger, it'd get lost in the fog. No, no Starbucks on-site that I remember. Any Bay Area folks still have their Zoo Keys?

Whenever a individual thinks of San Francisco thinks at a giant Global Orange-coloured link, a park spanning a lot more than 1,000 miles or even a city wherever modern artwork and culture and if you should be interested in that city then this is the place to begin hotelbye . Among the things for that which you should visit San Francisco is PIER 39. From incredible opinions and a sea of sea lions to chowder bread containers and California wines, your visit to San Francisco starts at PIER 39. This place is the most visited destination in San Francisco. It provides two levels of eating, entertainment, buying and attractions, all surrounded by irresistible views of the town and the bay. Positioned over the historic San Francisco waterfront, PIER 39's site offers the picture ideal foundation for postcard opinions of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the famous city skyline.

Not nearly as big, but I've been to both and I prefer SF Zoo. No Starbucks, but of course a nice eating area with I believe Chinese & other typical food & drinks (coffee drinks too). We always get the Gordon Biersch Garlic Fries.

Yes, bring a coat and make time to sit on the beach (down the street) while you're there. There's also a very nice little pizza restraunt across the street that is very good.

PS Yes!!!! I have my zoo key from early 1970-something!!! HAHA, it's a red elephant with the trunk as the "key" and it's packed up somewhere! LOL Thanks for the memory!!!!
