I have recently moved to a new city. When researching fast internet in my new location, I discovered that the only service offered is DSL at 128K. This is a drastic change from my cable service with 3MB per second. I have decided to take the 128K since it is better than 56K, although not much better -- it's faster. When using my cable service, I would play online games, such as Soldier of Fortune II, Battlefield 2, Counter Strike: Source, etc.. My question is: How would the online gameplay be using my new 128K connection? I'm worried that I'll experience much lag. Is there anyone in the same position as me (using 128K DSL) that also plays online games? If so, how is your online gameplay -- constant lag, a little lag, smooth? Thanks!

The only video game I've played over the Internet was a 3D tank game called bzflag. I've played it on dialup with only slight lag, but I think you might find that other games are much different. However, I'd guess that 128K is fast enough to have a decent game with just about anything.

Oh, yes . . . I didn't think to tell you before . . . try checking the websites of those games you want to play. I'm sure the developers give recommendations about connection speed on their websites. Good luck!
