I hear so much in the news about how terrorists hate America's freedom, how the drug trade needs to be stamped out, how workplace and school violence is rampant, how the education system is so poor because it has enough money, and I wondered to myself:

Why is it America does not look at the real root of all these problems?

Spending some time evaluating these issues, it appears some of the obvious solutions require serious introspection by the American people and acceptance of responsibility for causing some of those problems.

It just seems like this country is so self-righteous that it believes it can do no wrong, and that is a serious error in judgement! Instead of dealing with problems like terrorism, drugs and school violence in an effective way, it brands the offenders as "religious fanatics", "loners", "thugs" and "losers" which must be dealt with, instead of looking at why these people got this way to begin with.

Cowboy diplomacy is a failure, here and over there.

This is a "Fast Food Nation" looking for quick fix, easy answers. If it can't be informative AND entertaining, then it better be short. For the love of Atheism! Some people in this country buy a five dollar quick pick lottery ticket every week and consider it a retirement plan. Our whole culture is based on the idea of instant gratification. Fast food, CD players and DVD players promote the ideas that you can get what you want, when you want it 24/7. MP3 players promote the idea that you can get what you want, when you want it AND you don't have to pay for anything you don't want. So people want there answers and they "WANT'EM NOW, GOD DAMN IT!!"

As for being self righteous, George Carlin once said "this country was founded by slave owners who wanted to be free." Well now this country is full of religious fanatics who want to fight a war with other religious fanatics based partly on the idea that they are against religious fanatasism. Americans love to "stand true for the red white and blue" but they never think about the fact that plenty of other countries have flags that are red, white and blue. France, the country that we always look down on as a bunch of decadent, cheese eatin' *******, has a flag that is red, white and blue. England, the country that the founding fathers had to fight to get this country has a red, white and blue flag and they had it well before we did. All this is conveniently forgotten when we're high on false patriotism.

But in the end, it all boils down to the fact that people are sheep. Dumb, docile followers that want a leader. When the leader says "these people are terrorists, they use fear to try to controll you and that's the worst crime someone could possibly commit," then he says, "the terrorist are coming to get you and I can only save you if you do what I say" the sheep don't see the irony. They just follow.

For the last 56 years the Palestinian Refugees are living in a United Nation Refugee Camps waiting for UN to implement the UN Security Council resolutions.

For the last 56 years Israel conducts collective punishment and state terror against the Palestinian
Reading the Revolutionary Education Philosophy of Thomas Jefferson and compare it what is going on in Israel VS Palestine issue.
We find that education played a major role in the Palestinian demand for freedom, self-determination and liberation from a forced occupation
MR. Jefferson said that the liberation of the slaves can be achieved by education when the slaves get educated they will ask for their natural rights as human being .All
Men are created equal by God
Was the key to African American liberation from slavery?
The two States solution is the key to Palestinian liberation which go back to 1947 Security Council resolution called 181 or the partition plan which created both states. In the USA education was needed on both sides the Slaves and Masters
In the Holy Land education is needed on the Israeli side where the Israeli must understand that the land is for the two people equally. Keep in mind most Israelis were not native ppl or born in Palestine.
A viable Palestine means a viable Israel and no viable Palestine means no viable Israel and wars go on between the two people.
No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind.
Occupying other people by force is losing policy in the past and now and has no future.
If the Messiah is coming today who will he save the Palestinians whose lands was taken by force and living in a Refugee Camps for the last 50 years. Or the Israelis forces, which took the Palestinian, home and land and cities? The Messiah is fare and justice and love and peace how can he stand on the occupation side. The Palestinan ppl have the right to live in thier country where they were born.

It is nice that you have viewed the problems in an other perspectvie. Mistakes of self are to be corrected first and start accusing others then. However some of the mistakes pointed out are not that serious compared to terrorism. However herealso solution is not in retaliation. The root cause of the problem lies in Palestine which shall be declared as a neutral territory with the help of all people involved in the conflict and Israel shall live peacefully in the region. Oil should not be treated as a commodity for economic war on countries.
These will help in avoiding the wasteful expenditure on war, defence of the country and bring more funds for development and world peace.

I think that you are overstating the case. Often, the simple answer is the correct answer, and even if it is not, it may well be close enough to be useful. On some of the issues, there simply are no simple answers, and doing a lot of breast-beating isn't going to help much.

A big item in the news this evening was that a man of Pakistani extraction entered a Jewish office and shot it up, killing one and injuring several others. The assailant claimed that he hated Jews because of the current middle east mess. Can you suppose that there is a feasible means of routing such animus into more productive channels, as opposed to simply locking the guy up?

The most despised word in the world is the word "radical". It means "root", and every profession is devoted to the principle of leaving all problems to fester. People who attempt to solve problems by going to the root get marginalized immediately. Only when the problem becomes an emergency will the professions stand back and allow a practical person to solve it. And then from behind the scenes they will do whatever it takes to make that person disappear...

Anything that puts those on the top rungs of society in position where they must change things will not bode well with our well-to-do leaders. Ergo, they resist acknowledging wrongs and fail to move forward. The situation then continues to stagnate and those who can change it remain inert.
