The most famous disaster is of course the Titanic which broke in two when she collided with an Iceberg on Sunday 14th April 1912 when between 1496 - 1523 people drowned. But I have found two more, the first happened on Sunday 20th December 1987 when the Ferry Dona Paz collided with the Tanker MT Victor in the Philippines causing 4340 people to drown. And on Wednesday 25th September 2002 a Senegalese Ferry capsizes off the coast of Gambia West Africa where approx 1000 drowned. I hope this is what you meant.
