Windows is ment for the general public who isn't very interested in the IT domain! It's for those that want something easy to understand (therefore easy to learn and handle)!
I personally don't see my parents or grandparents (:)) ) compiling linux drivers, configuring the kernel, creating map files and ip tables for network configuration...
Linux is for those who really want to learn more about the IT domain!
I know Linux came a long way since it was first created, but still the support for it isn't so great...

It really quite simple really.
Hardware, device drivers, software, and overall compatibility is much worse in Linux than it is in Windows. This is because the manufacturers and programmers often don't spend the time or money making sure a compatible driver or software version exists for Linux. Plus, there are so many flavors of Linux.
Now I know what you're thinking. That would change if more people were on Linux. Companies would start to spend the money developing compatible solutions. However, that's a backwards approach that just doesn't work. Average consumers aren't going to make the switch unless the availability is already there. It has to be the other way around, and for that, you can blame the manufacturer.

One the one side, you have Windows spending millions in advertising; on the other side you have several distribution for Linux; which one should you pick?
Linux is freeware, and a lot of people wrongly associate "free" with "not worth anything".
Also, when you buy a computer, chances are that it will have Windows pre-installed. Most users would wonder "why change?"
Further, a lot of people want to play games with their PC, and most of those games are only compatible with Windows.
In the end, it may be ignorance: a lot of people do not know there are alternatives to Microsoft (after all, they have to admire the wealthiest guy on the planet, they have to assume he must be doing something right).

Your question responded: Excerpted from rattling Small Linux( and particular it extremely is fairly the call of a Distro(version)of Linux) What different factors make Linux platforms extra virus resistant? For a virulent disease to take result it will be slightly of a working software.... Linux platforms gained’t launch the virus until the person reads the digital mail, saves the attachment, modifies the desirable permission assigning execution permission to the attachment, after which explicitly executes the attachment. until those sort of steps are finished the virus basically maintains to be in quarantine. for sure an informed Linux person ought to accomplish those sort of steps unleashing the virus yet this unhappy state of activities doesn’t ensue in lots of instances in precise prepared platforms. yet another ingredient limits virus impression in the Linux worldwide. standard Linux customers don’t have permission to do lots. in spite of in the event that they unleashed a virulent disease it wouldn’t bypass very some distance. Getting previous the guy workstation calls for administrative capability – the type held via Root customers in Linux and directors in homestead windows. standard customers of Linux are not accorded root permission. in assessment, on a newly put in homestead windows equipment the 1st person created is immediately an Administrator. We call that soliciting for hardship. basically think of - a common homestead windows person has permission to place in data that would run amok and harm a brilliant style of solid issues. it variety of feels that for the duration of homestead windows the working equipment, the purposes, and the archives are inextricably intertwined. as quickly as returned as though they have been soliciting for hardship. .The very variety of Linux platforms promises some secure practices...." in my view, i'm person of four distinctive variations of Linux and function extremely NO opt to return to homestead windows.

I am a big fan of Linux and have contributed in its development, but given a choice , at the moment i would still use windows.
look at this simple example.
look at a window in your house.
a widows brings sunshine, fresh air etc.
But burglars also come in to your house through the window.
if you closed it you would be greatly inconvenienced but you would still be able to live.
now let me explain.
Microsoft Windows is an excellent operating system. It has many features and it is so user friendly that we take it for granted.
now for it to have so many features, it needs a little opening to the Internet through which it provides its services. it is through this hole that worms, viruses etc enter your computer.Yes this is a problem and I'm sure it will be patched up but in the meanwhile if you use an anti virus like avg, your computer will be free of problems.
now coming to Linux.
it is still in its development stage, not at a stage where it can challenge an operating system like windows. No doubt ,one day it will be but as of now, it is not.
now coming to why windows is the most exploited operating system in the world.93% on the people int the world use windows systems. Now if i were a virus programmer, i would like to make a virus that affects 93% of the people rather than 7% of people....because i spend so much time of designing that virus, i would like it to affect as many people as possible. It is not that Linux is not exploitable,it is ery much exploitable but no one tries because of its limited effect!!
hope this clears the cloud..
cheers

1)90% of the world uses Microsoft products, its usually the business standard, people program games in it, since many people use it, huge market for business....Linux not so much
2)Its very very easy, in windows you CANT run directly to a command line, you must use the GUI, and people don't typically like to learn new things
3)Do most people even know what Linux is? Adverting is much bigger on the MS side
4)People are stupid, they follow everyone else.
