Nike's world headquarters is in Beaverton Oregon.

Why should they pay American wages when they can use virtual slave labor in Asia or Indonesia? What do you pay for those Nikes that probably cost $5 to make? That is what "Free Trade" was all about. They promised lower prices because of competition. Where are those lower prices? Instead all that happened was lost American jobs and lower quality. By the way, it isn't just Nike. Dozens of companies are doing the same thing. Even Levis aren't made in America any more.

well i'm not really an expert on this so i might be wrong about some things but, i'm pretty sure nike's factories are in other countries and there products are imported the reason for that is because they make more money because they can pay foreign workers a lot less than americans.

Probably, Nike has a lot of off shoring going on. They make their products over seas, and also have factories overseas, and they save a ton of money doing this. They ship them back here, mark them up and sell at wholesale price to retail outlets. Then they mark it up as well. I $5 pair of shoes could sell for $90 retail. It's ridiculous, but it's how our global economy runs. It's how businesses are successful.

Most corporations follow the Nike model.

The glaring truth is that few have operations in the U.S., and then they use gimmicks that give them tax breaks by investing overseas.

So they make the profit overseas and avoid paying taxes to the U.S. by investing profits overseas.

So, what did America become?

A shell?

8.4 trillion dollar national debt, while corporations pay only one third of the income taxes.

What can change this?

I know what you do, write to your Congressmen and ask them why doesn't anybody care about the National Debt.

Tell your Congressman to get the Corporations to start paying up. Tell them to forget the gimmicks, you don't want to see corporations hire special tax accountants that find ways to save them money with phony off shore investment schemes.

If you don't do this, then who are they going to ask to pay off this out of control debt? Guess who?

The next thing you can do is buy products from corporations who honor their patriotism to America.

I don't mean by showing off American flags made in China.

I mean look to find corporations who hire American workers and invest in America. Then when you find these corporations, invest in them and buy their products.

There are a few around.

Very few.

You wouldn't believe how many companies produce almost all the goods they do completely by outsourcing their factories to places like China, Equador, Japan, and the Philippines.

Think of it this way... You buy a set of shoes from $60- $150.
Now ... Lets think of this ....
Which one would you rather pay...
$.25- .35 cent a hour?
Average wages over seas in a third world country...
$12.50- $16.00 ?
Average pay for basic factory workers in US...
And prices can go up as high as 18.50 - 25.00

Probably. Many companies are like that. It increases their profits, because they can pay less in wages.
