I'm guessing this is just in big cities. You register your fingerprint onto a sensor that automatically dedects from your banking account.
If you are familiar with what I am talking about, do you use it?
Why or why not?

Example: The Super Market. Where I live I have seen them for about a year now. I don't use them. I think it's creepy.

Only the merchant accesses your finger print. You register it right there in the store. I don't know about this finger print stuff though.

I've heard of it, but haven't seen it yet. I know in the past I've read that such systems are not yet 100% accurate and secure, as identity theft is still a big concern (people hacking into databases containing fingerprint data).

I'm curious, however, to know who needs access to your fingerprint information, or who is in charge of securing it. Your bank? Does the merchant have anything to do with the system?

Yes, we have it in Minneapolis at a grocery store chain called Cub Foods. Personally, I don't use the service, but I plan to at some point. The reason I haven't up 'til now is that you have to bring in a voided check to open the account, and I keep forgetting.

These are called bio-metrics. Finger prints and even iris of the eye are recorded for identifying persons.
