You're right your water doesn't need to break, mine never did. If you're instinctually feeling like you're in labor you probably are. Have you had Braxton-Hicks contractions at all during the last couple of weeks? If not it could be those which are the contractions getting you ready for the real deal, but I never got those either, so worst case scenario, you call the doc go to the hospital and they'll hook up a fetal monitor and they'll tell you if you are! But hey, before you go to the hospital, can you pick a best answer please? That means you have to wait I think 4 hours......

Yeah the contractions grab you like a vice grip and are initially very uncomfortable and then gradually some what painfull... when the contractions start coming every few minutes or less then this is a good indication although sometimes these could be false as well, nothing replaces the knowledge of a OB/GYN on this topic.

if your contractins are at 5 minutes apart of less for more then an hour you are in labor. you will be able to time this like a stopwatch, that is how timed they are.

only 10 perecnt of women have thier water break naturally witha gush of water. but if you have a trickle of water, like a leak, it broke also. you need to go to the hospital. this is a steady leak, not a spurt.

if the contractions come and go, then your body is preparing you. call your doctor if you do not have the 5 minutes or less apart contractions. good luck.

When you have your contractions they shouldn't really feel like cramps. the contraction and cramps feel very different. If your having low back pains just go to the hospital. If your in labor they will tell you or best of all call your doctor. Tell her where your having the pain and how painfull it is. She will know what to do. Because every woman is different we all have different labor pains. So its hard to just say this or that . what it feels like. JUST CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!! HOPE EVERYTHING GOES GET. Wecome to being a MOTHER!!!!!!

I have 4 kids and all were born before the 38th week. It sounds like you could be in labor. You will have cramps, like a very bad period. Don't wait for you water to break, mine never broke until 5 minutes before the baby was born. Call your DR. and talk to him/her.

Your water breaks. That is the first sign that you are in labor, and you can NOT miss it. Breaking your water is like peeing when you can no longer hold it; It just bursts out like a water fall.

You're obviously not in labor. Be patient, everything will be fine.

Good luck, and congratulations!

u may get contractions that you can feel all over your belly and in you back. it will feel tight, the contractions will be timed and if they are consistant then your in labour. also if your water breaks
time them
how close are they? if they are 5 minutes from start to start then go to the hospital.
