It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can introduce cow's milk and keep nursing. The World Health Organization recommends nursing for *at least* 2 years.

That is a personal choice... Here in Canada they now say if you can, nurse your baby till he or she is two. I weaned my son when he was 20mo because he was getting to the point where he was using me as a toy and a soother, not as nourishment. If you enjoy it, and the baby is happy and well nourished stick with it.. it is FREE after all and easy.. if you are tired of it, or the baby no longer is a joy to feed then wean. You could also do what I did and introduce the cows milk at meal times and nurse all the other times.. just only introduce it in a CUP ( spillproof is easiest). That way you don't have to wean from 2 different things..and then you can have a bit more freedom!
If you do use cows milk though.. make sure it is WHOLE milk.. or as we call it homogenized!! The baby still needs the fat in the milk!

I breastfed my daughter until she was one. I started introducing Whole Milk around 11 months. Her pediatrician said that I could start cow's milk at 12 months (so I started a little earlier than recommended). It is really your personal decision when to stop breastfeeding. There is no medical reason to stop at 1 year. I am currently breastfeeding my 9 month old son and will probably introduce cow's milk around the same time for him. It worked well with my daughter and she loves milk.

Both.

Continue with breastfeeding if your are comfortable with it. Your milk is by far the better of the two. Most of the recommendations are now for at least the first two years by UNICEF and WHO. Even the AAP is encouraging 2 years, but at least 1 year.

And it seriously helps with the tantrums and self-secruity baby has. More breastfed toddlers tend to be secure and independent then their counterparts (not all but most).

Don't believe these fools that tell you to stop because its not natural or that your creating a monster. Most kids self wean between 2-3 anyways! Very rarely you'll find a child who weans just before kindergarden, but there's usually other issues involved.

You must definetly continue with Breast milk! When your child grows to the age of 6, then it is time she starts drinking cow milk. But if you really aren't sure, you should go to the doctor and ask for advice.

definite. the superb ingredient to do is to combine breast (or formulation) milk with cows milk in the commencing up. 2 ozof cows milk to 6 ozof breast milk. And progressively strengthen the quantity of cows milk a week or 2. That way you would be able to make sure she doesnt have an hypersensitive reaction to known milk and he or she would be in a position to take to the cows milk less complicated. That information comes as we communicate from my daughters pediatrician.

I breastfed our oldest son, until he was just about that age and then he honestly, started to be disinterested in it all. It all happened naturally. He was much more than interested in the world that was around him and not so much in eating, drinking. We still then had our special times, and did with all of three, reading several times a day together. I think its a personal choice, decision you make. I know many who went to cow's milk, right in a sippy cup, no bottles from breastfeeding, and had no problems. I know others who had their infant get allergies when started on cows milk, at about a year old. If you and your baby are enjoying the experience, and his/her teeth aren't in yet or he/she isn't biting, then enjoy it! Before you know it, in a blink of an eye, you are seeing them graduate high school! No joke!

It's really a personal decision. You have to do what works best. I stopped breast feeding to go back to work but would have liked to continue. If you really just want your chest to yourself again, than you are entitled to that. One year of breast milk is the best start you can give your baby. Good luck.

If you and baby's doctor agree you should stop nursing don't switch to 2% cow's milk. babies should have whole milk. they need the extra fat that's not in 2%. but I think you should continue to nurse as long as you want.. I got preggers when mine was A year old thats why I had to stop nursing:(
