Enos "Country" Slaughter's career started with St. Louis in 1936, was traded to the Yankees for three players in 1954, traded to Kansas City during the 1955 season, sold back to the Yankees during the 1956 season, and ended when he was sold to Milwaukee near the end of the 1959 season.

He was a Cardinal. He is best known for his "mad dash" in game 7 of the 1946 World Series. On first base, he scored the Series deciding run on a single in the 9th inning. It was another bitter defeat for the Red Sox.
