Oh, I want to come along! Stockholm in summer is a treat. You can do the most unlikely things there, especially for a big city. It may not sound like much, but try sittling on the shore on Skeppsholmen, dangle your feet in the water as the ships go by... it's fantastic. Or just hang out in the outdoor bars and enjoy the hubbub. Wait... August? That's the time of the water festival! The Old Town (Gamla Stan) will be full of tents, lights, and people. It's positively teeming. That should be good fun though. If you enjoy quieter things, and if you have money, eat in these restaurants: Fem Sma Hus and Operakaellaren. Posh and as stuffy as it gets, but breathtakingly so. Bring a dress jacket. If the weather goes bad on you, try the Vasa Museum. As for shopping, there are grand department stores in the centre. And taking a ship ruise through the islands is fantastic, too. I guess you could just show up there and trust you'll find whatever is worth doing, because there's so much of it, and the infrastructure is so good. Enjoy, cities don't come much better than this.

Being born and raised there but lived in Canada for the last number of years there are so many places to see. But if you are spending the majority of your time in Stockholm take a walk through "Gamla Stan" and the surrounding area of the Royal Castle. You can also go to the older southern part of Stockholm called "Söder" little has changed there on the buildings in 100 years.
But beware that the prices of things are expensive. Do not buy any clothes in Sweden its much cheaper in North America. And bring your own booze.
I am jealous!!!!!

Anthony Bourdain airs a Swedish trip on the tavel chanel this Monday at 10pm. Hope it helps, he goes to places tourists usually would not go so you get a travelers view rather than a tourists view.
