I think there is no problem in wearing jeans by teachers. They should be decently dressed.

I agree, it is ridiculous. I work in early childhood so jeans are commonly acceptable...but I'm just thinking about teachers...particuarly elementary teachers in their nice clothes facilitating a paint project or chasing after kids on a playground.
I kind of understand the reasoning behind dressing nice for teaching...it sort of sets you apart and makes you seem more authorative...but couldn't they maybe compromise and let you wear dockers with a polo shirt that has the school logo or something?

I teach in a Jr. High school and we are expected to dress professionally. I, however, teach self-contained special ed. and we do a lot of art projects, and I have the schools old home ec. room, so we also do cooking skills. When we do a paper mache project or a taffy-pull, the principal looks the other way when I wear jeans. Of course on Wednesdays I take a group out to do community service and do pre-voc skills, and I always look nice in my dress and hose then.... :)

Teachers are professionals and should dress as so. jeans and slacks are no different from any other clothing. women clothing with appropriate tops ,blouses, are blazers has quite a professional appearance. Yes the teachers should be allowed to wear jeans.

I know! I am a teacher and LOVE it when we can wear jeans on friday. My boss always tells us its about the students respecting us, but anyone with sense knows that does come from the clothes we wear! Clothes are usually part of their contracts through, there is usually some part about "professional dress" believe it or not(my teacher's contract is 138 pages long!!)!

It depends on the situation and the kind of teacher-student relation.I think a tutor can wear jeans but a teacher in the school should wear s.Th more official, but if it's not too colorful it would be OK in a blue moon//(it's interesting for me too if there is a scientific reason for the effect of a teacher's clothes on students??)

In my opinion, wear jeans is no problem for us teachers. No file stipulate that teachers ought not to wear jeans. Furthermore, no people will consider it as a strange thing. Nowadays, Jeans is one of fashion garments .As a teacher, why can not ?

No, as said before "teachers are professional". Students would not give the amount of respect a teacher needs to show authority.

yes they can, actually i might prefer it, because it's easier to talk to them because they're not all dressed up. Especially science teacher, because this past year I did Life Science and we did a lot of dissections and the teachers couldn't wear jeans.

I think a nice pair of dress jeans (dark indigo perhaps, but not acid washed or whiskered and sequined) would be perfectly appropriate. Esp with a nice blouse and fitted jacket.

i don't have little ones the right age to placed on baggy denims (meaning the crotch is extremely diminished from the waistline), although, my youthful brother is sixteen and my mothers and dads (who purchase his clothing) do no longer enable it. while asking him why he could want to placed on them, he suggested through fact they are super comfortable and funky. He on no account suggested desirous to camouflage something or appear as if a thug, or the different reason. So, my mothers and dads purchase him comfortable in good shape denims. they are merely as comfortable, no longer style-installation, and he's cool with them as long as his footwear are large. the different ingredient to keep in mind is that maximum hip and city adult males's designers make denims that are baggy, wherein case that's a sort...merely like mini skirts and a million/2-tops. I advise, if Gucci and Sean Jean say parachute pants are decrease back, somebody (with adverse style) will placed on them proudly.
