can old xbox controllers be used on xbox 360?

No, Xbox original controllers use a different plug. 360 controllers use USB ports and plugs, unless you have wireless.

I guess it'll work on Xbox games but not 360's.

No they can't due to the fact that the X360 doesn't have controller ports....they have USB ports instead where the wired controllers plug into.
