Well, I have one of my cat, and its like 15 minutes of him sleeping, so you can see why that would be valuable.
"Poe is sleeping, shhhhhhhhh"

Well I can't speak for the XXX ppl but I can speak for my brother and myself. I haven't seen my younger brother for 9yrs since my Mother passed away. He has also been sick for 9yrs being diagnosed from Hodgkins Disease to Non-Hodgekins Disease, lymphoma and many others. Problem is the doctors don't know what is wrong with him but in Oct. he was diagnosed with Wegeners Disease and given 2 months to live. He started a new vitamin regimen he found online and the very next day he was up walking, talking, no headaches; he's gained some weight and now has his own successful online business. He is a far cry from the death sentence the doctors gave him and due to a webcam (my first time ever using one) I have now been able to both see and speak with him at the same time. Prior to the webcam, I would talk to him on the phone as my aunt and I would pray for him and listen to him cry in agony. Tired of doctors, treatments, medicines; frightened and without hope. The person I saw 2wks ago on the webcam was healthy, handsome, vibrant and ALIVE! I can't afford to travel to visit him and so I'm grateful to the internet for reuniting us via the cam and internet calling. My brother and I can IM, chat and see one another and not have to worry about travel expenses.
That to me makes a personal webcam worth viewing, thank you for asking.

I personally hate webcams, but I've spent a lot of time on the road, and people on the road use webcams to see their grandchildren and such while they're talking to them online. It's a keep-in-touch-from-afar sort of thing. Other than that, I couldn't tell you why people would want a webcam.

So you can see the person you are talking with? A lot of internet chats and dating chats take place over webcam.

It can function as an educational tool. If you're a nature enthusiast, San Diego Zoo has webcams of polar bears and pandas. You can study animal behaviors without leaving your house.

comparing?
that you are not the only one wearing Mickey Mouse pajamas.
Your room is cleaner than theirs. They don't make their bed.
Seeing what others do when they are alone and bored (oohh this will make me go back to xxx stuff lol)
I had this one webcam as my bookmark sometime ago.
A guy in Holland had his cam pointing outside through window in his bedroom. Very nice scenery it reminded me of the short time I spend there.
Changing into pajamas lol, that is all i can think of,
oohh look she is going to sleep, let us all check her out

I use mine to see my husband who lives in Germany. It is great for him because he can see me and our children. It makes him feel like he is more in tune with our family and the daily dealings. The webcam is a great piece of technology.. maybe not for the common person, but for us military families, it can make a HUGE difference.

Depends. Is this a web-cam you're using to talk to someone you know or one just open to anyone who wants to drop in.
If it's the second I would suspect it's just voyeurism, plain and simple.
