I sometimes blow out of proportion for a small reason. I have tried to control but to no avail. What is the best method on controlling your anger and not becoming violent?

Angry Management classes may help. But I have learned not to burn.I don't want to burn any bridges or loose a friend because I can't control my temper. When you feel like you are going to explode, stop and play the whole tape. Will it really be worth it?When you get angry your brain releases endorphines just like getting high,so you could develop a habit of this.In that case there is a 12 step fellowship called "EA" Emotions Anonymous. You could google it.PEACE AND LOVE TO YOU!!

You have to have a strong will. Anger is a strong emotion. Females cry and vent more to allow their emotions to get out. Male on the other hand store their emotions away allowing it to build up and come out as anger. The first thing is to relax and let you mind take over. It is a mind over matter type of thing. Also allowing your emotions to come out more will help. Not to the point that you are acting gay

Anger is like a dam. If the pressure builds up too much, the dam burst and all that water the dam kept in check comes out

Yeah, from time to time things are just going to push your button. But you do have some choice of how you react after that first instant. You can work yourself into a state or you can work yourself out of one. The most important thing to remember is that getting angry does more damage to you than them, and usually doesn't help you think clearly about a practical solution to the problem.

Pay attention during times you are getting angry and you will find that you are grinding your teeth and breathing quick shalow breathes.

Practice dropping your jaw. This will prevent you from grinding your teeth. When you press your teeth together it prepares you to fight. Drop your jaw consciously until it is becomes something you do subconsciously.

Also avoid caffeinated beverages for the same reason....Caffeine makes one tighten their jaw.

Also breathe from the bottom part of your lungs. Braehte until your stomach pouches out. Our body is in fight or flight mode if we only breathe in shallow breathes. It tells us to respond to save our lives. It is something you must consciously do until your subconscious does it automatically. This will take you to a better place.

Some simple steps you can try:

Breathe deeply, from your diaphragm; breathing from your chest won't relax you. Picture your breath coming up from your "gut."

Slowly repeat a calm word or phrase such as "relax," "take it easy." Repeat it to yourself while breathing deeply.

Use imagery; visualize a relaxing experience, from either your memory or your imagination.

Nonstrenuous, slow yoga-like exercises can relax your muscles and make you feel much calmer.
Practice these techniques daily
