While I enjoy the Harry Potter series and cannot wait for Book 7 to be released, I'd have to say that in my book, the Lord of the Rings trilogy wins hands down.

Harry Potter doesn't have deepness. It is sort of personal story, full of revenge, and pointless deaths.

On the other hand, Lord of the Rings is a History. Unbelievably large history of mankind, elfkidn, dvarfkind, etc. in which each WHY has its own BECAUSE. Everything happens with reason and it is full of positive human feelings.

Don't take me wrong - I like HP very much, and spent several sleepless nights with those books. And for LotR I needed weeks.

I prefer Harry Potter.
But, Lord of the Rings is much better.

Harry Potter all the way, Lord of the rings is good but who wants to read 15 pages on what the scenery is like.
