Without a doubt Israel.

Israel receives billions of dollars of aid from America.

The $30 million the US government just gave to Lebanon last week is a bit of a joke though, since they just shipped a new load of missiles to Israel last week as well (through Britain, which Tony Blair rather unusually protested to George Bush about).

Strange policy - helping to rebuild Lebanon if you're helping to blow it up at the same time... Still the aid to Israel is approximately 100 times as much as that given to Lebanon.

Also Israel is helping to achieve American strategic aims in the region (eliminating Hizbollah and Hamas and Washington hopes, humiliating Iran and Syria).

We are backing isreal. USA has always been a supporter of Isreal. Lebonon is a terrorist harboring country, of course we're not going to support them as much. Isreal is currently doing all of the US's work by kill all the terrorists. 230 dead in the last two weeks.

Well of course they are backing Isreal but in the media they want to be appearing to be backing both. This is the reasoning behind the humanitarian aid. Give rockets to the one you want to kill for you and feed those they are killing. It looks good in the media spotlight. I am a proud united states of american citizen born and bred and agree with supporting Isreal I just sometimes think our government should step back and take a look at what it is doing through the t.v.

People have already answered the question. What i found interesting was that people find lebanon at fault because Hezbollah operated from within its own territory. Needless to say the terrorists in 9/11 in USA, March 11 bombings in madrid, 7th July in lonon, all these terrorists acts had one thing in common. The people involved stayed in the respective counteries for a long time before acting. So maybe these counteries should take more stringent steps in identifying terrorists at home rather then labelling people as terrorists. Hezbollah isn't a simple case like al-qaeda. One has to understand the region to understand what hezbollah means to the people. As they say one nations terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

Both;

We have pledged $30 million in aid for Lebanon and are shipping in emergency materials now.

We have ignored the UN, Hezzbolah and middle eastern nations cries for a cease fire because that is just a chance for the terrorist to re arm themselves and dig in. Its pretty clear this administration wants Israel to finish them once and for all.

Hezzbolah is in Lebanon, and the country is too week to kick them out and so Israel is doing just that. More power to them....

"Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it." -- Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 3rd, 2001, as reported on Kol Yisrael

Israel is not fighting Lebanon it is fighting Hezbollah. In case you didn't know Hezbollah is financed and supplied by Iran.

To answer your question the US is waiting for Israel to take out Hezbollah so we can take out Iran.
