There was a movie that I saw when I was a little kid. It was G rated and it was about this little boy and little girl. Can anyone help?

The first movie that came to mind was a 1955 movie with Robert Mitchum playing a demented preacher pursuing a boy and a girl, I think because they know where some stolen loot is.
Shelley Winters was also in it.
I know that's going back quite a ways and it's probably not it, but it's the first one I thought of. "The Night Of The Hunter"
Mitchum had the words "Love" and "Hate" tatooed on his fingers!
Another movie featuring a boy and a girl was "To Kill A Mockingbird" with Gregory Peck.

the boy peeked under the girl's skirt. the girl got mad and beaten up the boy pretty badly the boy got killed and the girl lived happily ever after.
