What are the prospects for a shift from govt. jobs to private jobs- for example-from ISRO to private company?

The prospects are good in a private company, but if you want to shift from ISRO to another private company then my suggestion would be a Strict No, because as far as i am concerned i feel very proud to work for a Company like ISRO and nothing comes in between to shift the company.

I dont know why you want to shift from Govt. to Private Company, but i would suggest you to first consider the carrer path that you want to have, like growth and the stress and other factors before shifting a job and also the Fame of the company , if you are working in a certain subject, before a shift please do consider where the company you want to shift stands and how far will it stay in that field.
