So you don't get in trouble with the law go to court and legally evict him. Or just change the locks when he is out when he comes knocking at the door pretend you speak another language and say the former owners have move to alaska.

how do we get in these messes?i too have 4 sons ranging from 13 to 23 and until last month they all lived at home now the 13 year old i understand but???no all jokes aside my older boys work pay their own bills and even kick in on mine from time to time i say if he has never lived on his own start like you did when teaching him to walk baby steps tell him he has to start paying rent on his room and help with his foods costs give him ample time to get a job but then demand his payment but dint change the rules of your home soon he will start to think why pay rent here and be treated like a kid when i can pay rent on my own place and stay out as long as i want to. that's not to say he wont stumble and need a little help along the way but he will get his feet under him.if he does have to move back home for any reason remind him rent and rules still apply good luck.

For his birthday, give him deposit and first month rent in an apartment that he can afford. Tell him he lives there now and has to keep up the rent. I have a friend who's dad bought him a used mobile home, and all he has to pay is the lot rent. not sure what you can afford, but if you can swing it, it would get him out of the house!

I guess sit down with him and talk about bhis coming of age in life. Talk about the future and being and individual. Tell him it is his time to go on out on his own in a grown up responsible way. You will always be there for him when he needs you right? I don't know...im just 16 but he might get the point that it's time to grow up on his own.

Tell him to go to College. Buy himself an apartment. He's not going to live a life in your house. He'll still be a child. Explain the life. Tell him he needs to move on. You can't kick him out. He has to decid on his own.

AT 17 WHEN MY MOTHER STARTED HAVING ME PAY RENT, FOOD, 1/2 ON UTILITIES... I KNEW I HAD TO DO SOMETHING... I HAD TO BE HOME EARLY.. NO COMPANY... I WAS OUT... I AM NOW 26 WITH A HUSBAND 5 KIDS AND I BOUGHT MY HOUSE... IT TEACHES RESPONSIBILITY... THERE IS NOT ONE THING IN THIS WORLD YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR.. WHETHER IT IS BY A#$ OR CASH YOU WILL PAY...IF YOU WANT YOU SON TO BE RESPONSIBLE DO WHAT MY MOM DID TO ME...IT WASN'T HARSH... REALITY...AND FOR EVERY MOTHER THAT WANTS HER GROWN A&$ SON HOVERING UP UNDER HER INSTEAD OF TRYING TO LEARN TO BE ADULTS AND MEN THAT TAKE CARE OF FAMILY... NEED HER LONELY A$$ a friend or something....

Mine were in their mid 20's when they moved out on their own. What is soooo bad about your child still living at home and that young? Mine helped out around the house and did yard work too. I loved and enjoyed mine being at home with me. Why do you want yours out so bad for??!!!!!! Mine could have lived with me from now on, they were the ones ready to move out and to try it on their own. My parents were the same way with me, and I stayed until I was in my early 20's and move out on my own. Now guess what?.......I'm back home again and I'm 49 now. Yep, I'm 49 and living with my mom and dad again!!! This time I'm here to stay!!!!!

Just kick him out. And throw all his possessions out with him on the curb. He'll get the message.

My experience tells me he may go but will come back and you will be asking this question when he is 25.
