Speaking for myself and no-one else - I'm not some "commie" or piece of "Eurotrash" as one redneck here assumes, but I'm educated and own a passport which I am sorry to say is more than can be said for the average American. The majority of Americans do not own a passport and do not know very much about world geography. A friend of mine who got married to an American was asked by his sister before coming over to the UK for the wedding whether we had electricity here. I think that kind of sums up the levels of ignorance that are perceived in the US' administrations actions and the words of the wider American community. of course there are educated Americans, I suspect there's also a high correlation between those who have a perspective of America within the WORLD economy and who own passports! The American administration rides rough-shod over world politics: Bush refuses to sign up to Kyoto, instead buying additional emissions allowances from developing countries; they challenge free trade and preferential trading agreements between other countries whilst promoting trade bias at home and overseas wherever they invest. I could go on and on. Lets just finish by saying that The West Wing finished in the UK last night and for so many people that parallel universe is one where we would like America so much more.

What a question!!! I come from the UK and to hate someone you need to get to know them first. I don't hate Americans but I do find it hard to like them when we hear how great your country is, how bigger it is, we are the best at this and that. Maybe if you people over the pond would stop and listen to other peoples views and not always be blinded by your own I'm sure you would find a change in other people. Also as your country was fostered from other countrys ie British not just the Scottish and Irish and with that you have a great line of history other nations envy. Yes be proud but not blind my friend. I hope anyone who reads this might understand what I am trying to say.l

A bit over the top there I think, "vomit their hate", there are quite a few nutters about, in the USA as well as in the UK, but the vast majority of Q&A.between the two countries is harmless banter, despite what people think we do have a similar sense of humour!
I am Scottish, I really enjoy taking the pi** out of the English, I have no objection to being called a "Sweaty Sock" in return! (At times I well deserve it)
So while I admire your stance on behalf of the Americans, I feel sure they are capable of sorting out the few 'vomitors' that turn up on the odd occassion!
I dont think your little outburst will get you a Green Card though! Thats not what you are after is it?

Many people wish simply to be heard without being seen. They dare not say these things in public (and that's why there are so many stupid and lewd questions). Some remarks are so racist and so unthinking that the person asking must be mentally defective or the biggest bigot in the world (step down Hitler!). I am not fond of the US (I am an American, but I do not support the current governmental policies) but it is an insult to our intelligence for people to ask meaningless tripe or go off into rhetoric to support their own narrow views. Most are ill-informed and most are semi-literate...notice spellings...and the rest have a petty peeve that their welfare check was late. Nonetheless, there are intelligent people asking real questions and deserve real answers...don't let those good folk down.

I feel Americans in general are ignorant about current world affairs, some even think apart from the west and east coast, no other world exists on the map. To go even further, some think New York is the capital of the US. What do you expect? I am not against the American people , but their crooked administration with Bush leading ahead.

I think it is more of a multilateral hate rather than just America... it is often the moronic stand that neo-cons take that invites equal reaction. People talk about nuking other nations as though it were something good to say. So obviously rest of the world does not like that and spits out anger against the US.

It is also to do with the medieval war mongering attitude many Americans betray.

Possibly because we don't have the right to vote in the USA and the British Prime Minister runs after the President like a female dog on heat.
Do I have to refer to 7th July 2005?

Maybe because by reading US Yahoo q/a, they have seen so many hate and arrogance from Americans to the rest of the world, they have read too many extremists and neo-nazis talks.

The world is reading you and you’re responsive of the picture you’re giving from America.

For my part, I had always made a difference between a government and people. I confess that after reading Yahoo q/a and so much arrogance, I make less and less difference and begin to hate American people as much as I hated Bush.

Fortunately, some of you, by the pertinence of their talks give me the hope that people on Yahoo/Qa is not representative of American people. And I thank them so much to give me a better picture of USA.

Because your government is seen as dictatorial and war mongering to the rest of us. Also The average tourist from America in the past was a complete prat. However I find the average person, general public, quite likable and especially in the New England states where they seem to hate Bush and his ilk.

Americans love America, we just hate Bush. And believe me, if you like Bush then you might just be an American basher.

In case you didn't know Bush has formed America into the North American Union. He has intentions of eliminating our borders.

If you think illegal immigration is bad now wait till the N.A.U takes effect. Plus this N.A.U reduces the power of labor unions.
