A special thick Indian chapati known as koki (a type of bread). My mom had gone out, and got held up somewhere - I was 12 and when I returned from school, very hungry. She'd kneaded the dough and cooked the main course - I just heated it and rolled the 'chappatis' ( I can never get them perfectly round the way my wife or mom can), roasted them on the hot plate and had one of the best meals of all times for a 12 year old(I actually ended up overcooking most of the stuff, but I still fondly remember the taste after 35 years).

My wife, on her off days insists that I cook and I do oblige sometimes, but I have to hide some food that I have cooked for myself, because there's never any left for me afterwards

But, my ten year old son has done better, last year he managed to prepare some excellent pasta for himself while we had left him alone with a maid. He just read the instructions and the recipie on the packet he says. And no one I know can make pasta like him!

I made Jello. Everyone in my family ate it and told me it was delicious. I was about 5 at the time, and didn't get any help from my Mom.
