In a real car, they have to choose between hanging onto the top of the sterring wheel and seeing the road or hanging onto the bottom of the wheel so they can reach the pedals. If you have TWO hampsters and the car has an automatic transmisson, they actually CAN drive real cars. Otherwise, they are stuck with miniature cars. It requires an entire crew of highly skilled hampsters to drive a car with a standard transmission, so you will rarely find this in the USA. It is more likely in Germany where they can take full advantage of the Autobahn.

They have short legs and can't reach the gas in a bigger one. Also they live with kids and they always have miniature cars around the house.

It takes too many of them to get the full sized cars operated properly and getting that many hamsters to do a coordinated job is just damn near impossible
