There has always been conflict in the middle east, major companies closing to make way for the company of the future, and so on and so forth. Why do we (Americans) still care. Wouldn't all the ongoing problems teach us to say "Whoa some bombs fell in Isreal and the Isrealites fought back, that's as new as water.

"We" don't care. The oil companies care - and since Cheney is all involved with them - he cares. Since they pay off all of the politicians - they care. Since we (Americans) believe everything they tell us - like how this is about religion and defending your country - we (Americans) care.

The Bush administration cares about the middle east because they want to control the oil - oil is money and power in today's world. They care about Israel because Israel is our military presence in the middle east, and Israel has one of the largets lobbies in the US. They pay politicians to care.

So basically, politicians are paid to care, and Americans are fooled into caring.

You miss the whole point. What war has ever been fought for humanity? Every war has been about possession of something...land...slaves...money...or oil. Basically it is a money issue and what agressor is going to quit...we didn't quit in Vietnam in spite of the fact that the war was un-winnable. We won't quit in Iraq even if most of our men were killed, because of the oil, and we would commit additional troops as it is good business...Both Bush and Cheney and others are businessmen. They want the oil but enjoy selling hardware and munitions too. We hear a lot of flack about the illegals...the end result will cost you money and make no difference but could the new impetus on illegals stem from the government as a means to divert attention from Iraq or could it be that with so many illegals in the US, we would need an ID card, and abrogate more rights to Big Brother...it is time to be suspicious and look at motives.

We still care because it is killing innocent lives. You may not care, because you are a selfish bastard. But there are still some decent people in the world that try to help. There have been disputes in the mideast, but that doesn't mean they must go on forever.

"Whoa some bombs fell on the other side of the world, like I care." Why should you care? Because they are dying. Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they don't deserve to live. This just goes to show how people are ignorant in this world.

And just bacause the war isn't being fought for humanity doesn't meant it isn't happening and that we shouldn't care. And you wouldn't know whether is war is being fought for humanity or not because you didn't make the decision to start the war, and you wouldn't know the true reasons why the war was started in the first place.

I think any rational person cares about this.

Many lives are being lost ... for what? More oil? More terrorists? I also believe we care, but we are becoming a more helpless nation as we watch whatever we try to do fall apart and the fighting continues ... this helplessness is not a good feeling and sometimes, we want to try to feel empowered by believing we can do something about it, such as getting a new President, reducing our reliance on the oil supply, etc. However, we need to keep reminding ourselves of who we are and why we are not like the people fighting in Lebanon and Isreal and Iraq and Aghanistan and Pakistan and everywhere else ...

I am one of those that believe things will balance out in the end.

If it wasn't for oil the middle east would take on all the significance of Africa in American foreign affairs policy.
