Superman's powers?

Superman's powers come from our yellow sun right? So if we(earthlings) were on Kryton which had a red sun would we have powers like his? And how come he still has his powers away from our yellow sun? Or in a different system with a different sun? Like when he's in space. Shouldn't he then be powerless?

Superman's powers act like a battery, so that he stores energy from the yellow sun. This power remains with him for quite some time, which is why he does not lose his power's every night and he can fly around in deep space. Recently, he lost his powers because he flew through a giant red sun. It has taken him about a year of charging for his powers to come back full force. But it is correct that if Krypton was still around, we would not be have super powers there. The greater gravity would probably kill us. Also, there is absolutely nothing about human DNA, to any ones knowledge, that would give use special powers under a red sun. This is just a special feature that Kryptonians's have.

Krypton's red sun would have no effect on a human. A kryptonian (i.e. Superman) is a living solar battery. He absorbs the radiation that comes off of the yellow sun, using it as his power source, essentially. This is the source of his powers.
As for being away from the sun, as I mentioned, he's a battery. He has so much energy stored within himself, he can last quite a while without the sun, but he will eventually run out.

Like whales, Superman can store the sun's energy inside his body for a long time. I do not think we can live on Krypton. It's technology is too over whelming for us. Our bones would be crushed.
