You might try running Windows Update from http://www.windowsupdate.com and get all updates, aside from drivers they offer.

if you have not downloaded the windows installer 3.1, then do so and see if it straightens it out. if that dowsn,t, then google fix windows installer and look for the link for kelllley corner and download the registry file
