I don't think that it has anything to do with religion. Social needs, or the need for affiliation or companionship, is one of the most basic human needs. Loneliness simply means that that need is not being met. It sounds like you have some social needs that are not being met. But, yeah, I'd say it is a human condition. And we, as humans, are never satisfied. By nature, we have endless wants, which is another human condition.
A lot of times I don't feel like I belong. But that is MY nature - not a leader or a follower - just an in-betweeny-type person. It's not that you don't belong. Maybe that is your nature, too. If so, I think it is a good thing to be. You aren't dumb enough to allow anyone to lead you by the nose, but your smart enough not to impose your thoughts or opinions on anyone else. You just have to look on the bright side of things.
As for the feeling at home stuff - I moved around a lot when I was young, so where my stuff is is pretty much where my home is. Home is a state of mind, too. As long as I have (brace yourself - this sounds stupid coming from a 24 year old) my bear from when I was little and my dog, I feel at home. In all honesty, I think that my dog is the only reason I am sane sometimes. She is a real lifesaver. I talk to her like she is a human, and I swear upon everything holy half the time she can understand what I am saying. Smart cookie, that one. Where ever she and I are at is my home. Anyway... I think I answered your question. If your lonley, I'm probably alone too. You can send an e-mail if you want. (haven't taken the time to figure out the whole "IM" thing. I am a lazy lonely person.) Smile!! It could always be worse!!

I feel loneliness often,I do believe that's a human condition, partly because of our instinct since we were mammals living in a group, which is not always the case now,and also I personally would always associate this with some quiet deseperation or sadness in general that I picked up through teen years,it's almost like a seed that's planted in me.
I do believe I belong somewhere else but not in such place as heaven,I generally aquire religion or philosophy in general as simply different ways to see the world and even be childish about it like it was something like Santa.
Yet,loneliness is somehow kinda neat when you do be creative about it,it is much better if you could make a poem or a punkie song out of it rather than think about it and wipe.

I don't feel like I belong anywhere either. I'm not satisfied, but I doubt it has to do with heaven (I like the Buddhist idea, though). I don't think it is ever capable to really not be lonely. We are ourselves. No one else is, and can't think the same way we do. As an individual. We can find people we are compatible with, though. We can learn to feel more comfortable, however--in a state and sanctuary of our own minds. That is some comfort. Find a passion, though, or some reason for your existence. Heck, it may even be to find out that reason. Like a goal or something, if you want to feel like you belong.
After such a strangely dark question, smile for me, okay?

Different people are different. Some people feel comfortable with being alone, and some people are more sociable and are more comfortable when there are others around. Some people feel that wherever they are is 'home.' (I have a son who seems to feel that way). And some people feel that no place is really 'home.' (My dad seemed to feel that way).
I, personally, have never felt much at 'home' anywhere, but it has never bothered me not to. I am happy enough with only my own company when I'm alone. I keep myself occupied and just figure people have to live somewhere. To me, one place is as good as another.

I think we belong here but are never satisfied because we haven't a clue as to why we are here. Most of us are lost souls - with the exception of the few supposed "enlightned" ppl.

If you are lucky enough to find your soul-mate, then you won't be lonely. We live inside our skin and try not to let many touch us. That is the problem with being human.
