We have been doing that for 80 years.
I had a little magnet generator that ran of my bicycle wheel and ran a headlight. At night you just fliped it so it rubbed on the tire spinning the the magnets and when not in use flipped it away from the tire. I think you can still buy them.

Yes - it is already done. You can buy a light that is powered by a small generator attached to the frame that is spun by the tire. Any magnet spinning in a coil creates electricity. The trouble is how do you capture it for something useful?

why yes you can. It doesn't matter the application but anything that has mechanical motion you can convert it to electronic energy through a magnetic field
