i sprained my right ankle a week and two days ago and had iced it down for a week straight and did R.I.C.E.....this wednesday that just passed i began to run on it and the lil bit of swollenness that was there is now still there ...its not much,but yet just a little.and today i went practice kicking on it and it felt fine,but its still just a lil swollen...should i ice or heat?...ive heard that you should only ice for about the first 72hours then heat....plz help!

You're on the right track... ice it if it's swollen for up to 3 days.
After that, put the heat to it. Keep it elevated if it feels better that way and just be careful putting your full weight on it.

Ice reduces swelling and dulls the pain. Later you use heat to help the circulation and improve healing. When my mother had a severe injury, the doctor told her to alternate between the two, back and forth!

Ice for the first 48 hrs.20min on 20 off.than heat to promote healing.--If you keep injuring it(sounds like you may be doing that) than ice again etc.

Definately ice for about 10 to fifthteen minutes and your might want to see a doctor about getting an xray to make sure there is nothing broken.

Ice is usually for swelling, but if it feels fine, I would just elevate it a bit (you know, just sitting on the couch) and make sure it is well supported when you exercise.
